Your wheel named it:Future

You took the Scorecard, and the wheel did what wheels do — it told the truth. Your Future gear came back lowest. That is not a verdict. That is a work order. The lag gear is not where you are worst as a person — it is where the next honest hour of work buys you the most, because it is the one dragging the other seven.

Future is the Headlights — your time, talent, and legacy. How far ahead you can see. “And the things you have heard me say among many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be qualified to teach others as well.” 2 Timothy 2:2 (BSB)

The Read

You can drive a dark road at speed for exactly as far as your headlights reach, and not one foot farther. A low Future score means the lights are short: the calendar is full but points nowhere, the days are spent but not invested, and if the machine stopped this year, what you have built would stop with it. That last part is the tell. Paul’s instruction to Timothy is a four-generation sentence — what you heard, entrust to faithful men, who will teach others. Your legacy is not what you accumulate. It is who can carry the mission after your hands come off the bars.

And headlights are aimed by two humble tools: the calendar and the question. The calendar, because your priorities are not what you say they are — they are what next Thursday looks like. The question, because there is one that re-aims the whole machine every time it is asked honestly at the end of a day. Not “what did I get?” That is the odometer question, and the odometer only ever counts miles behind you.

“What did I get?”“What did I give?”

Getting fills a garage. Giving fills a generation. One of those is still running fifty years from now.

The 30-Day Move

Aim the Lights
  1. Write the legacy letter — one page to the people who will outlive you: what you want them to know, carry, and never doubt. It will not be finished in one sitting. Start it anyway; it aims everything else.
  2. Name your Timothy. One person you will deliberately pour into — a son, a daughter, an apprentice, a younger believer. Put the first sit-down on the calendar within fourteen days.
  3. Ask the question nightly: “What did I give today?” One line in a notebook. Thirty lines in thirty days will re-aim the headlights all by themselves.
